RIDES

Club Rides take place on both Saturdays and Sundays, they are categorised as below.

AVG SPEED (mph)

RIDE/DESCRIPTION

RACE TRAINING/CHAIN GANG

20+

On a Saturday, this ride leaves Stan’s at 9am, dates TBC. Sunday times and dates TBC.

This is a hard, fast ride designed to train riders for the racing season. This is a drop ride. In the event a rider is dropped it is their responsibility to navigate safely back to the start/home and deal with any mechanical issues that may occur along the way. Please come prepared for this eventuality.

TEMPO

18+

On a Saturday this ride leaves Stan’s at 9am. Sunday times and dates to be confirmed.

This ride is a tempo ride and is the fastest, non-drop social ride for the more advanced rider. As this is a non-drop ride all riders will leave and return together. Given the challenging pace please come prepared to maintain the pace and support other riders by taking turns at the front.

B-RIDE

16+

On a Saturday, this ride leaves Stan’s at 9:15am. Sunday times and dates to be confirmed.

This ride is a fast social non-drop ride. Whilst not as challenging at the tempo ride, chain gang etiquette is observed with each rider taking it in turn to ride at the front. This is an excellent ride for those with experience riding with a group at a fast pace. If you’re wanting to take a break from riding with the speed queens or want to push the pace and come up from the C group then a B ride may well be for you.

C-RIDE/D RIDE

On a Saturday, this ride leaves Stan’s at 9:15am. Sunday times and dates to be confirmed.

Non-drop social rides catering to both new riders and those wishing for a more relaxed pace.

Depending upon numbers there is often the opportunity to join a C or D ride. This is more common in the Spring and Summer months as the number of ride participants grows. The C and D rides offer a more relaxed pace and often follow less challenging routes.

If you’re a newer rider, just getting back into the sport after a break or simply want a social ride without your heart rate monitor going berserk a C or a D ride is for you. Given the more relaxed pace and mixed abilities of these rides chain-gang etiquette is normally not observed with more focus on the stronger riders taking the lead to ensure everyone gets out and back safely at an even pace.

As with any group ride, it is essential to maintain good rider discipline taking into consideration the terrain, traffic conditions and the position of your fellow riders. If you don’t have experience riding in a group please still feel free to join us but mention this to your ride leader so they can give you some helpful tips and advice to enable you to have a safe and enjoyable ride.

Please come to these rides fully prepared to fix any mechanical issue you may have along with sufficient water, food and clothing.

RIDE ETTIQUETTE/RULES:

To be comfortable with riding in one of our groups, riders are expected to have competent bike handling skills such as the ability to safely use clipless pedals, signal and be able to take on food and water whilst on the move.

Please come to these rides fully prepared to fix any mechanical issue you may have during a ride and with sufficient water, food and clothing.
